Stress Meditation Works
Stress is a symptom caused by a number of different factors. Fortunately, there are measures
that you can take which can help to alleviate the condition. Some remedies are effective for certain individuals or
they may address specific root causes. But reducing stress using meditation has been widely accepted for centuries
as something that can be applied by anyone regardless of the cause. Your own personal situation along with your
personality will determine what type of meditation will benefit you the most.
Most of us like to sleep as late as possible and we covet those
extra few minutes that the snooze bar allows us. Then, once we are up, we tend to rush through our routine in
order to be on time for whatever our daily tasks and routines may demand. Even before our activities begin, we
are preparing our minds for the daily grind. If you begin the day under pressure, you are setting yourself up
for additional tension and your chances for serenity are gone before you begin. Many of us have also accepted
the “fact” that our peace of mind comes in the evening when the day is done and we can relax on the couch. But
our daily complications accumulated during the work day can have a tendency to follow us home and sit right
there beside us on the couch while we “relax.”
Why not try something different. It is obvious that this daily grind routine of trying to stay on top of your
situation is not working. Stress meditation will work wonders for you if you will just give it a try.
As Goes The Morning, So Goes The Rest Of The
Day
We hit that snooze bar and sleep as late as possible because we enjoy those few hours to
ourselves in the evening when we can relax. But instead of staying up as late as possible, try getting to bed early enough to get at least 7 hours of sleep.
Rather than finishing the day with a thriller on DVD, or the eye witness news that has your blood
boiling, try unwinding before bed with a devotional reading of some sort that will direct your mind to
thoughts of peace? There are many such books designed for people of all sorts of differing philosophical and
religious beliefs.
After unwinding in such a way, wash the world off your back with a good hot shower or bath
before hitting the hay for the day. Then, get up in the morning at an earlier hour than usual and use that extra
time to prepare your mind. Rather than preparing for the troubles of the day though, prepare yourself with another
devotional reading along with some quite time meditation upon that which you have read. Impress upon your mind the
message that you have absorbed, and think about how it applies to you so that you can use this method of stress
meditation during the day when stress begins to mount at work or home.
The Physical Connection To Inner Peace
Also remember that your body, mind, and spirit are directly related. You cannot affect one for
good or for bad without impacting the others. If I could just offer a
couple of physical tips that could help to boost your spiritual and mental state, it would be to get
sufficient exercise and to drink plenty of water. Water will cleanse your system of toxins and exercise
will get blood to the brain and strengthen your body. When your body is healthy, your mind will follow. So
when you get up, do your stress meditation devotions and then get some exercise and water before eating
breakfast.
Don’t think that stress meditation means sitting on the floor cross legged while chanting
“OHMM…” Although Yoga and transcendental meditation can be effective as well. But meditation by definition means;
“Continuous and profound contemplation or musing on a subject or series of subjects of a deep or abstruse nature”
(Wikipedia). You can perform stress relief meditation anywhere at any time, with or without your legs crossed.

Meditation and Stress - Yin and Yang
What you want to do is to plant positive and peaceful thoughts into your mind, and
then purposely bring those thoughts to the forefront of your mind throughout the day. What I like about the
method of devotional readings is that you are given themes to dwell upon which you might not have considered
if left to your own imagination. These themes may take on deeper significance when during the course of the
day, you observe situations that apply to the theme.
This method of creating inner peace is proven and used by millions including myself. You will
experience results immediately, and your condition will improve over time. You will eventually use this stress
meditation method subconsciously if you make it a habit.
Many people use tobacco to alleviate stress, but this is counter productive on several levels.
You may need Help Quitting Smoking before you can really conquor your
stress.
